FALSE CLAIM: Fontes' office misused taxpayer dollars on an campaign ad.

FACT: In July 2026, Fontes launched a public service ad campaign, which the office is granted a budget to do by the Legislature. The campaign included text, TV, and internet ads — featuring himself to promote BallotTrax, the state's early-ballot tracking tool. This is state-funded advertising, and Fontes appears personally in it as the sitting chief elections officer for the state.
